“Thierry Mugler Fall 2011 (menswear)”

Well, let’s talk a little about what everyone is talking right now, Nicola Formichetti debut as creative director for Thierry Mugler (now just called “Mugler”). The whole collection, itself is not a homage neither it took that much inspiration from what the Thierry Mugler legacy is. They did a very wearable, less dramatic, and slightly minimal collection. I describe it as a twisted, a little bit futuristic, Tim Burton’s tale (Rico, the skeleton-tattooed guy reminded me of Jack from the Nightmare Before Christmas) with notes on occultism and ghostly vibes (which came from the sheer nylon veils that flowed beautifully in the air while the models walked). I’ll have to say that i agree with the style dot com review, the whole appeal of this collection is by how it was styled. If you take away everything that was used for the styling you’ll end up with nice, tailored separates that somehow weren't so special when compared to what Thierry Mugler was. I still believe that the Mugler house is on a misunderstood limbo. I did expected something more dramatic (but then who am i). Now let’s wait and see what he delivers for the womenswear collection.
