“La Lulu at FWP Day 1”

IMG_4656For day 1 of Fashion Week Panama Lulu Macaroon wore a Marc Jacobs resort 2011 deep-chocolate polka dot dress which we decided to pair with an Hermes leather clutch, Oscar de la Renta earrings and Aperlai raffia embellished sandals. And with this post I’ll start all of the FWP 2011 posts.

“What about outer space?…”

I’m still asking myself how and why i missed this collection. I still stay stare at the prints of the pieces from the collection and say that every look takes me into a journey around outer space that i believe is the acronym of a beautiful epiphany that begins as a unique utopia that actually owns a way to be done and to show how it’s gonna be done. This collection is for dreamers, dreamers who actually would make their dreams come true (quite a weird way on how to describe this collection, but that’s how i see it).

Here are the looks that i most liked.

“Let the kitty say MIU MIU”

00040m

“Fun, sensual, insolent.” – Miuccia Prada’s description of the Miu Miu resort collection.

To start, go and download “Girls just wanna have fun” – Cindy Lauper. Now comeback and lets comment about how fun is this collection. With inspiration from Yves Saint Laurent, which is notable form YSL’s 1971 collection.

One of the main thinks that characterize Miu Miu is their prints (weird's in a beautiful way), and this one didn't disappointed.

Oh and do i have to say how much I'm having a crush over Lindsey Wixson?. God, she's such a rare beauty.

“Alexander McQueen Resort 2011”

To start let me say that i did had high expectations in Sarah Burton at McQueen as she was his left hand (or right, as you want to put it) but then she let me down in some small way. Every time i saw a McQueen collection or show, to be honest I'll dare to say that i got so involved with it that it fulfilled my heart and it made me happy in some sort of way that i still cant express in words. I remember the first time i saw a McQueen fashion show on YouTube, i was about 13 years old (not that I'm old enough), and let me tell you I cried (I'm not kidding, i did cried) as every piece that went down the runway was so unique, so ethereal and so romantic. It was the Spring 2007 collection (the one presented in the Cirque d’Hiver, Paris) and in that moment i fell in love with fashion, and here i am now, writing a post for my blog, a piece of my own heart and soul that I'm giving away so you all can understand me as i try to understand all of you. Well that turned a little bit personal.

Now here are the looks that made me cried during the spring 2007 collection, which was like watching a poem coming to life in a muted but loudly way. (Below)

Now lets talk about the first effort that Sarah Burton did with her resort collection at Alexander McQueen.

The collection itself isn't bad, but we are missing the “WOW” factor we always expected and counted on McQueen to deliver it so we can all be amazed by his vision. Sarah did made used the heritage of the brand adding, of course, her personal touch to the collection that is not bad but.. (God i cant find the words to express how much i miss McQueen).

Below are the looks that did remind me a hint of McQueen.

"Lanvin Resort 2011"

Once upon a time when God was bored he took some time to play with some magic and he did this:

  • On the first day he created the light.
  • On the second day God created the atmosphere.
  • On the third day he created water and dry earth, and also made trees, flowers and everything green you could think of, grow.
  • On the fourth day he created the sun, the moon and the gorgeus stars.
  • On the fifth he created the sea and those cute little birds who make us smile during spring and summer time.
  • On the sixth day he created the creatures that would live on earth and then he created the man.
  • On the seventh and last day God put Alber Elbaz as creative director of Lanvin, and we all fashion lovers thank him every day for making that happen.
  • OOOHH and later that day God put on some slippers, turned onn the tv, and started watching Two and Half men, just to rest from all the hard work.

Well Done GOD.

After that, Alber did this collection to amaze us, from every angle, every detail this collection is stunning. This is another way to respresent resort, this collection topped my list of favorites. Sorry Stella McCartney, but dont worry you are my runner up.

As Tavi from Style Rookie "this looks like the kind of collection you'd have to see in real life". I couldnt agree more with her, this collection is drool worthy. (i think you by now are kinda' bored of reading about how much i love this collection and how much gush about it).

Well, here i leave you with my favorite looks:

"Givenchy Resort 2011"

No one does gothic chic better than Ricardo Tisci for Givenchy. A resort collection full of strong and signature pieces, like his trompe l'oeil jacket presented in white on top and leopard print below, masculine crisp white, with stripes of red delicate lace. The color palette is also signature black, white and red, now including leopard print. Tisci said his inspiration was Frida Kahlo's animal-filled paintings, wich is obvious and very notable in the long sleeved white dress with stripes os red lace. Another amazing collection.

"Celine Resort 2011"

Another collection that rocked my boat. The collection is so simple, but so chic. Consisting on re-inventing simple silhouettes and making them something really minimalist or as is it called now "minimal" with an impact and a strong statement that would never bore you. Phoebe Philo also did some colorful looks, my favorite gotta' the yellow top with the two tone red/green skirt, wich for me captures the epitome of (i will dare to say) spring, other of my favorites was the long white silk satin halter gown suspended from a brass gold necklace. And lets not forget about the gorgeus prints presented in jumpsuits, pants, tops, dresses. Other thing that i liked the most were the sporty short, they seemed kind of leathery and they were so simple and so chic (i know how many time i have written those two words), who would have thought that sporstwear could look so amazing.

"Stella McCartney Resort 2011 Video"

"Stella McCartney Resort 2011"

What a way to cherish pre-spring with a party like this, in the Stella McCartney way.She throwed a party to celebrate her resort collection, with margaritas and everything, giiiiirl let me tell you this collection is rocking the hell out of my boat, every piece is spectacular, every piece screams SPRING, is fresh, young, wearable, everything we would expect from Stella. The collection consists in several dresses with what i think are watercolor botanical/garden/floral print, many lace pieces-like the lace blouse plus lace shorts combo wich is beyond sweet-, and some Savile Row tailored sharp, clean suits. What's not to love? From now on ill be planning doing a garden or something like that, this collection inspires me. Maybe i'll do some illustrations of this collection.

What do you think of this collection? let me know, post a comment bellow.
